The Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia, in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kilkis, is organizing a Cultural Event titled «In aristocratic Europos and cosmopolitan Goumenissa – Journeys through time, tastes and sounds»

Aiming to promote the historical, archaeological and cultural heritage of the region for the development of tourism on  Monday 19 June 2023

 The event is organized within the context of the project «Europos – Palatiano – Stobi – European past and future cultural values» with acronym «EuroP@St & future», of the Interreg IPA CBC Programme “Greece – Republic of North Macedonia 2014-2020”

The «EuroP@St & future» project aims to develop a global approach to promote the cultural and natural heritage in the cross-border region of Greece – Republic of North Macedonia, and in particular the geographical area of Kilkis and the neighboring region of the Republic of North Macedonia in order to strengthen its attractiveness to visitors.  

The project partnership consists of the following beneficiaries:

  1. National Institution for Management of the Archaeological Site of Stobi (Republic of North Macedonia – Lead Beneficiary)
  2. Ephorate of Antiquities of Kilkis / Ministry of Culture & Sports (Greece – PB2)
  3. C.I.S.S. International Cooperation South South Branch office Skopje (Republic of North Macedonia – PB3)
  4. Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia (Greece – PB4)

The event commences with a welcome of the participants and a brief presentation of the «EuroP@St & future», at the World War I Fountain located at the central square of Goumenissa. It will be followed by a guided tour at the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary (Panagia) and the Church of St. George in Goumenissa, Kilkis. This will be followed by a short coffee break and visit to the winery “Small Estate Titos” for a tour and wine tasting. The event will conclude with a visit to the Archaeological site of Europos where there will be a guided tour, followed by lunch with the accompaniment of local traditional music.

 08:00               Departure from White Tower (Thessaloniki)

09:30 – 09:45 Arrival at the central square of Goumenissa and welcome by the organizers, beneficiaries of the «EuroP@St & future» project

09:45 – 10:30 Guided tour of the churches of St. Georgios & Panagia Goumenissa

and coffee break

10:30 – 12:00 Guided tour of the “Mikro Ktima Titou” winery

12:00 – 13:30 Guided tour of the Archaeological Site of Europos

13:30 – 15:00 Lunch accompanied by music

15:00  Departure for Thessaloniki
